Winston-Salem Area
We're the healthcare provider of choice in the Winston-Salem region. Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital provide care that is state-of-the-art and second to none, both because of the advanced treatments available through our clinical research and technology to the academic excellence - and caring natures - of our doctors and nurses.
Forsyth Medical Center
A 961-bed, not-for-profit tertiary care hospital located in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Medical Center offers a full continuum of emergency, medical, surgical, rehabilitative and behavioral health services. Forsyth performs approximately 19,000 surgical procedures each year, including more than 6,800 general surgery procedures, 9,900 orthopaedic and neurological procedures and 600 open heart procedures. The hospital is also offers a number of clinical trials in the areas of cancer, cardiology, pulmonary medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopaedics and pain control.
Medical Park Hospital
The mission of Medical Park Hospital has historically centered on patient need. In 1966, a group of local physicians, recognizing the need for a private hospital, formed a committee to conduct the feasibility study and financing from Integon Corp. for a project dubbed "Winston-Salem Doctor's Hospital." Three years later, financing in hand, grading began on property across Hawthorne Road from what was then Forsyth Memorial Hospital. The new hospital, by now renamed Medical Park Hospital, would be owned by Maplewood Inc., a subsidiary of Integon; Casstevens Hospital, a private hospital some distance away; and 50 physicians. By 1971, Casstevens Hospital had closed and the first patients were admitted to Medical Park. Today, the 22-bed, not-for-profit hospital specializes in elective inpatient and outpatient surgeries.
